About

Welcome to Stokesley Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Stokesley was founded in 1980 and comprises members who volunteer their skills and expertise across a variety of areas to activate diverse programmes which benefit the local and international communities. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.

Rotary is a worldwide network of people who support their local communities and international projects, to improve the lives of people in these communities, while also having fun. Over the years we have raised and distributed many tens of thousands of pounds and instigated hundreds of home and overseas projects. There are almost 50,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland and over 1.4 million world-wide.

Our programme is aimed at enriching community lives while raising money for a range of local and international charities. We frequently invite speakers to our meetings, usually related to our objective of providing service to others, but sometimes of general interest. We also have an ongoing programme of outside visits and community projects.

The programme’s annual calendar includes a Bank Holiday Car Boot Fair in Stokesley and the Classics On Show vintage car event, which in June 2024 saw over 3,000 visitors and well over 800 classic vehicles on display on Stokesley Showground — both of which raised substantial funds for local charities.

Where to find us

Stokesley is a small North Yorkshire market town on the banks of the River Leven, home to about 5,000 people. The town, with a lovely Georgian market square, is only around four miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and about 15 miles from the pretty Yorkshire coastal resort of Saltburn.

In October each year Stokesley Methodist Church is lit up in purple for World Polio Day. Rotary’s focus is on Purple4Polio, as we continue the challenge of eradicating Polio from the world.
